This cookie jar, made by Metlox Pottery, stands about 9" high including the lid. It is one of the most popular and hardest to find of that Company's cookie jars. In the Metlox book Collector's Encyclopedia of Metlox Potteries, the author has determined from old catalogs and brochures that this cookie jar was assigned the number 662 by Metlox. This indicates that the jar was produced from 1963 to 1967. He also attributes the design to Bob Allen and Mel Shaw who both came to Metlox with animation backgrounds at Walt Disney and MGM. This influence can be seen in the appearance of the cookie jar.

There is a round black and silver paper Metlox label on the bottom and the poppytrail label on the side (Markings 19 & 20 in the Metlox book). It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.
